Dracaena deremensis 'Bronze', a robust houseplant, originally comes from the tropical regions of Africa. Over the years, it has become a popular choice for indoor greening thanks to its attractive dark green to bronze leaves and its ability to thrive even in less-than-ideal conditions. In the 1970s, plant lovers began growing Dracaena in hydroculture, which made its care much easier and increased its popularity even further.
Hydroculture care tips:
Light:
Dracaena deremensis 'Bronze' prefers bright, indirect light but can also do well in partial shade. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it could burn the leaves. Too little light, however, can slow growth and cause the leaf colour to fade.
Water:
In hydroculture, it is essential to keep the water level in the hydroculture pot constant. Make sure the water level indicator always stays in the optimal range, ideally between "Minimum" and "Optimum". Too much water can cause root rot, so waterlogging should be avoided.
Temperature and humidity:
Dracaena deremensis 'Bronze' thrives best at temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius. It tolerates normal room humidity well, but increased humidity promotes the plant's growth and health, especially in the winter months.
Feeding:
During the growing season, which runs from spring to late summer, the Dracaena should be fed every four to six weeks with a special hydroculture fertiliser. Use only half the recommended amount of fertiliser to avoid over-fertilising. In winter, feeding can be greatly reduced or even stopped.
Leaf care:
The leaves of Dracaena deremensis 'Bronze' should be dusted regularly to support photosynthesis. If necessary, they can be wiped with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Yellowed or damaged leaves should be cut off to make room for new growth and keep the plant healthy.
