🌊 What is hydroculture?

Hydroculture is a proven system for keeping plants indoors with little care. With this method, oxygen, water and nutrients are combined in a mainly mineral, inorganic medium such as expanded clay, Seramis and mineral substrate.

🌱 Plants suitable for hydroculture

Many plant lovers swear by hydroculture plants and report positive experiences with their care. However, not all houseplants are suitable for hydroculture with expanded clay pebbles. Well-suited plants include:

  • Ficus species (Ficus benjamina, Ficus elastica)
  • Dwarf umbrella tree (Schefflera species)
  • Narrow-leaf fig (Ficus binnendijkii)
  • Swiss cheese plant (Monstera deliciosa)
  • Areca palm (Chrysalidocarpus lutescens)
  • Kentia palm (Howea forsteriana)
  • Dragon tree species (Dracaena)
  • Fiddle-leaf fig (Ficus lyrata)

These plants are particularly popular as office plants, as they are very easy to care for and only need watering once a week at most.

🌍 The importance of houseplants

Houseplants matter! They produce oxygen, improve the indoor climate and filter harmful particles from the air. As people today spend around 90 per cent of their lives indoors, air quality is often inadequate.

With a suitable indoor planter system, you can significantly increase the health, longevity and efficiency of your houseplants. And the care effort remains low!
