Product information "Hydro - Fan Palm Licuala Grandis"

Hydro – Licuala grandis

Licuala grandis, also known as the fan palm, is an exotic houseplant with striking, round fan-shaped leaves that instantly give any room a tropical flair. It originally comes from the tropical rainforests of the South Sea islands and impresses with its decorative effect and elegant growth habit. In hydroculture, Licuala grandis grows particularly cleanly and evenly, in conditions that suit its roots.

Care in hydroculture

Light:
Bright spot with indirect light; direct sun can burn the leaves.

Temperature:
Ideally 20–28 °C; do not keep below 16 °C.

Humidity:
High; regular misting or a humidifier supports healthy leaf growth.

Substrate:
Hydroculture granules (e.g. expanded clay) for a steady water supply and good oxygen supply to the roots.

Watering:
Check the water level with the indicator and only top up once it reaches 'minimum'. Be sure to avoid waterlogging.

Feeding:
Every 4 weeks during the growing season with special hydroculture fertiliser.

Special features:
Licuala grandis grows slowly, but is particularly elegant and decorative. Ideal for living spaces, offices or conservatories, where it adds an exotic touch.

Overwintering tips

In winter, top up less water, but do not let the roots dry out. Temperatures not below 16 °C. Keep in a bright spot and avoid draughts. The hydro Licuala grandis remains a striking eye-catcher even in the cold season.
