The Aeschynanthus marmoratus, also known as the marbled lipstick plant, captivates with its dark green, glossy leaves with striking light green marbling. In hydroculture it is particularly easy to care for and is ideal for bright living spaces or offices, where it adds an exotic touch as a trailing eye-catcher or in hanging baskets.
Care in hydroculture:
Light:
Bright position out of direct sunlight. It also does well in partial shade, but the marbling develops most beautifully with sufficient light.
Temperature:
Ideally 18–25 °C. It only tolerates temperatures below 15 °C for short periods.
Humidity:
High humidity is preferred; normal room air is possible, and regular misting or a spot near a source of water will help it thrive.
Water & nutrients:
Check the water level in the hydro pot regularly and avoid waterlogging. Add hydroculture fertiliser to the water every 2–3 weeks to promote healthy growth and strong leaf colours.
