History of the Monstera deliciosa in hydroculture
Monstera deliciosa, also known as the Swiss cheese plant, comes from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. There it grows as a climber up trees. In hydroculture, this popular houseplant develops a strong root system in water and adapts well when conditions are right. Hydroculture makes care easier, as it provides an even water supply and reduces root rot.Care as a houseplant in hydroculture:
Light: Bright location, no direct sunlight.
Temperature: 18–27 °C is ideal, not below 12 °C.
Humidity: Medium to high, mist occasionally.
Substrate: Expanded clay or another hydroculture substrate.
Watering: Use the water level indicator; top up regularly with fresh water.
Feeding: Special hydroculture fertiliser every 4–6 weeks.
Special features: This houseplant forms aerial roots, which can be guided into the water.
