Philodendron scandens, also called the heartleaf philodendron, delights with its delicate, heart-shaped leaves and its trailing, elegantly hanging growth habit. In hydroculture it is particularly easy to care for – perfect for living spaces and workspaces where a touch of green and uncomplicated care are wanted.
Care in hydroculture:
Light:
Bright to partially shaded spot, no direct sun. Also copes with less light, but then grows more slowly.
Temperature:
Ideally 18–26 °C; should not be kept below 16 °C for long periods.
Humidity:
Very adaptable and tolerant of normal indoor air. Regular misting supports leaf health.
Water & nutrients:
Check the water level in the hydro pot regularly and avoid waterlogging. Add hydroculture fertiliser to the water every 2–4 weeks.
Special features:
Climbs or trails decoratively and is ideal for hanging baskets, shelves or climbing supports. With its heart-shaped leaves, it brings a timeless, tropical touch to any room.
