The Sansevieria trifasciata Silver Mist is a particularly elegant variety of the popular mother-in-law's tongue. Its dense, silvery-green marbled leaves grow upright and bring a modern, minimalist flair to any home. The plant originally comes from West Africa and is known for its robustness and air-purifying qualities. In hydroculture, the Silver Mist is especially clean and easy to care for.
Care in hydroculture
Light:
Bright to partially shaded spot; it only tolerates direct sun for short periods, as the leaves can otherwise scorch.
Temperature:
Ideally 18–27 °C; do not keep below 12 °C.
Humidity:
Normal indoor air is sufficient; no increased humidity needed.
Substrate:
Hydroculture granules (e.g. expanded clay) that ensure a sufficient supply of oxygen to the roots.
Watering:
Check the water level and only top up once the water level indicator shows “Minimum”. Be sure to avoid waterlogging, as the plant is sensitive to excess water.
Feeding:
Every 4–6 weeks with special hydroculture fertiliser during the growing season.
Special features:
The Sansevieria “Silver Mist” is very easy to care for, ideal for beginners and also suitable for offices or rooms with less light. Its upright leaves look decorative in tall pots and fit perfectly into modern interiors.
Overwintering tips
Top up with less water in winter and do not let temperatures fall below 12 °C. Avoid draughts. The Hydro Sansevieria “Silver Mist” is particularly long-lived and provides an elegant green accent in your living space all year round.
