Hydro – Sansevieria trifasciata Moonshine
Sansevieria trifasciata Moonshine is a particularly elegant mother-in-law's tongue with striking, silvery-green leaves that have a slight metallic sheen. It originally comes from West Africa and is known for its robustness, easy-care nature and air-purifying properties. In hydroculture, Moonshine can be grown especially cleanly, evenly and in a root-friendly way.
Care in hydroculture
Light:
Bright to semi-shaded position; direct sun only for short periods, otherwise the leaves could burn.
Temperature:
Ideally 18–27 °C; do not keep below 12 °C.
Humidity:
Normal room air is sufficient; no increased humidity needed.
Substrate:
Hydroculture granules (e.g. expanded clay) ensure a good oxygen supply to the roots and stable water management.
Watering:
Check the water level and only top up once the indicator shows “minimum”. Avoid waterlogging, as the plant is sensitive to too much water.
Feeding:
Every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with special hydroculture fertiliser.
Special features:
The hydro Sansevieria “Moonshine” is easy to care for and ideal for beginners or offices. Its upright, silvery-sheened leaves look particularly decorative in modern pots.
Overwintering tips
Top up with less water in winter and do not let temperatures drop below 12 °C. Avoid draughts. The plant remains uncomplicated even in the cold season and adds a stylish green accent to your living space.
