Hydro – Snake Plant Sansevieria trifasciata 'Black Coral'
The Sansevieria trifasciata 'Black Coral' is a particularly elegant and robust variety of snake plant. Its dark green to almost black, slightly marbled leaves grow upright and add a modern, stylish accent to any room. Originally from West Africa, the plant is known for its longevity and easy-care nature. In hydroculture, the 'Black Coral' can be grown in a particularly clean, simple and root-friendly way.
Care in hydroculture
Light:
Bright to partially shaded spot; direct sun can scorch the leaves.
Temperature:
Ideally 18–27 °C; do not keep below 12 °C.
Humidity:
Normal indoor air is sufficient; no special humidity required.
Substrate:
Hydroculture granules (e.g. expanded clay) for a good oxygen supply to the roots.
Watering:
Check the water level with the indicator and only top up once it reaches 'minimum'. Be sure to avoid waterlogging.
Feeding:
Every 4–6 weeks with special hydroculture fertiliser during the growing season.
Special features:
The hydro Sansevieria 'Black Coral' is easy to care for and ideal for beginners, offices or rooms with less light. Its upright, dark leaves look particularly decorative in modern pots.
Overwintering tips
In winter, top up with less water and do not let temperatures drop below 12 °C. Avoid draughts. The plant remains uncomplicated even in the cold season and creates a stylish, tropical ambience.
