Product information "Hydro - Strelitzia Nicolai"

History of the Strelitzia Nicolai in hydroculture

Strelitzia Nicolai, also known as the white bird of paradise, comes from South Africa and impresses with its large, exotic leaves. It is one of the most popular houseplants for modern living spaces and grows particularly well in hydroculture, as this gives it an optimal supply of water and nutrients.

Care as a houseplant in hydroculture:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; a few hours of direct sun promote growth.
  • Temperature: Ideally 18–27 °C; should not fall below 15 °C.
  • Humidity: Average to high; occasional misting helps.
  • Substrate: Expanded clay as a pure hydroculture substrate; no soil needed.
  • Watering: Use the water level indicator; a medium level is recommended; avoid waterlogging.
  • Feeding: Special hydroculture fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during the growing phase.
  • Special features: The Strelitzia needs plenty of space and regular cleaning of its leaves.

Overwintering tips:

In winter, fertilise less and make sure the roots do not get too cold. Strelitzia Nicolai in hydroculture is an elegant houseplant that enhances any home with its imposing leaves.
