The rubber plant Ficus elastica Belizedelights with its large, leathery leaves in rich green, streaked with striking pink-cream and light green variegation. In hydroculture it proves to be a particularly easy-care, long-lived houseplant that gives modern living and working spaces an expressive, exotic accent.
Care in hydroculture:
Light:
Bright spot without direct sun. Plenty of light promotes intense variegation and compact growth. Partial shade is possible, but can reduce the intensity of the colours.
Temperature:
18–26 °C is ideal. The plant should not be kept below 16 °C for long periods.
Humidity:
Well adapted to normal indoor air. Occasional misting or wiping of the leaves supports leaf shine and vitality.
Water & nutrients:
Check the water level in the hydro pot regularly and avoid waterlogging. Add hydroculture fertiliser to the water every 3–4 weeks to promote healthy growth and strong colours.
