History of Tillandsia Bulbosa
The species Tillandsia Bulbosa comes from Central and South America and the Caribbean and is one of the best-known air plants. It is characterised by its bulbous base and twisted, thin leaves that grow in all directions, giving it an almost sculptural appearance. It is popular as a houseplant because it does not need soil and can be used in many ways in modern decor.
Care as a houseplant:
-
Light: Bright spot with plenty of indirect light; tolerates some morning or evening sun.
-
Temperature: Ideally 18–28 °C; do not keep below 12 °C.
-
Humidity: High; mist regularly with low-lime water or submerge in water 1–2 times a week.
-
Substrate: No soil needed; can be grown in bowls, on wood or mounted decoratively.
-
Watering: Let it drain well after soaking so that no water collects in the leaf rosette.
-
Feeding: Every 4–6 weeks with heavily diluted bromeliad or orchid fertiliser.
-
Special features: This houseplant is excellent for creative arrangements and brings a tropical touch to your home.
Overwintering tips
In winter, soak less often but continue to mist regularly; do not keep below 12 °C. Tillandsia Bulbosa is an easy-care, decorative houseplant that delights with its unusual growth.
