History of the Tillandsia Eric Knobloch
The Tillandsia Eric Knobloch is a special hybrid from the tillandsia family and delights with its decorative growth habit and its leaves, which often have a slight silvery sheen. Like many tillandsias, it grows epiphytically, i.e. without soil, and absorbs water and nutrients through its leaves. It originates from the warm regions of Central and South America, where tillandsias grow on trees, rocks or cacti. As a houseplant, it is popular above all for its extraordinary appearance and easy care.
Care as a houseplant:
• Light: Very bright spot with plenty of indirect light; some direct sun is well tolerated.
• Temperature: Ideally 18–28 °C; avoid temperatures below 10–12 °C.
• Humidity: Medium to high; good air circulation is important.
• Substrate: No substrate needed; the plant can be placed freely or attached to wood, stone or in decorative containers.
• Watering: Mist with low-lime water once or twice a week or occasionally dip in water, then let it dry well.
• Feeding: During the growing season, occasionally mist with heavily diluted tillandsia or orchid fertiliser.
• Special features: As an air plant, it needs no soil and is ideal for creative decorations.
Overwintering tips:
Mist a little less in winter, but continue to keep it in a bright, airy place. Be sure to avoid waterlogging. The Tillandsia Eric Knobloch is an easy-care, decorative houseplant whose extraordinary shape adds modern, natural accents to your living space.
