History of the Dieffenbachia Lemon Tropic

Dieffenbachias originate from the tropical regions of Central and South America. The Lemon Tropic delights with its large, decorative leaves in fresh green and bright shades of yellow. It brings tropical flair to bright living spaces.

Care as a houseplant:

  • Light: Bright to semi-shaded, without strong direct midday sun.

  • Temperature: Ideally 20–27 °C, not below 15 °C.

  • Humidity: Medium to high humidity.

  • Substrate: Loose, humus-rich and free-draining.

  • Watering: Water as soon as the top layer of substrate has dried out slightly. Avoid waterlogging.

  • Feeding: Feed lightly every 2–4 weeks during the growing season.

  • Special features: Avoid draughts and sharp temperature fluctuations.

  • Important for pet owners: Toxic to cats and dogs. The plant sap can irritate the skin and mucous membranes and cause severe discomfort on contact with the mouth or eyes.

Overwintering tips:

In winter, keep as bright and warm as possible. Water less and pause feeding while growth slows. Avoid cold draughts.
