History of Echeveria Antaris Mina
Echeveria Antaris Mina is a decorative succulent from the stonecrop family (Crassulaceae) and is one of the popular rosette succulents. Its fleshy, densely arranged leaves form a compact, symmetrical rosette and, depending on light and growing conditions, can develop attractive shades of green, grey and red. Especially with plenty of light, the plant often shows beautiful colouring on the leaf tips and edges. Like many echeverias, it comes from the dry regions of Mexico and is perfectly adapted to sunny, rather dry conditions. Thanks to its compact growth, it is ideal for windowsills, succulent collections and decorative arrangements. It is also of interest to pet owners, as echeverias are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
Care as a houseplant:
- Light: Very bright to sunny. A spot at a bright south-facing window is ideal. Gradually accustom it to direct sun to avoid sunburn.
- Temperature: Around 18–25 °C is ideal. In winter the plant can be kept a little cooler, but preferably not below 10 °C.
- Humidity: Normal, rather dry indoor air is perfectly sufficient. There is no need to increase the humidity.
- Substrate: Use a very free-draining succulent or cactus substrate. A high mineral content supports a healthy root zone.
- Watering: Water sparingly and let the substrate dry out completely between waterings. If possible, do not leave water standing in the rosette for long. Be sure to avoid waterlogging.
- Feeding: During the growing season from spring to summer, feed about every 4–6 weeks with a weakly dosed cactus fertiliser. Do not feed in winter.
- Special features: Plenty of light promotes compact growth and can intensify the natural colouring. With too little light, the rosette begins to stretch and loses its compact shape.
- Important for pet owners: Echeveria Antaris Mina is considered non-toxic to cats and dogs and is therefore generally well suited to households with pets.
Overwintering tips:
Echeveria Antaris Mina should be kept as bright and rather dry as possible in winter. A slightly cooler position supports its natural dormant period. Water only very sparingly and make sure the substrate dries out completely between waterings.
