Ficus altissima Yellow Gem is an elegant and decorative houseplant that delights above all with its strikingly variegated leaves. The glossy, oval leaves show a harmonious interplay of rich green and bright yellow-green shades, which gives the plant its characteristic name. Ficus altissima originally comes from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, where it grows into a stately tree. As a houseplant, the Yellow Gem variety brings a modern, fresh atmosphere to living and working spaces.

Care as a houseplant:

• Light: Bright spot with plenty of indirect light; avoid direct midday sun.

• Temperature: Ideally 18–27 °C; temperatures below 15 °C should be avoided.

• Humidity: Medium to slightly increased; normal room air is well tolerated.

• Substrate: Loose, free-draining foliage plant substrate with some perlite or sand.

• Watering: Water moderately; let the substrate dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging.

• Feeding: During the growing season, every 2–4 weeks with a liquid fertiliser for foliage plants.

• Special features: The light-coloured parts of the leaves look particularly beautiful in a bright location.

Overwintering tips:
