History of the Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Multicolor

The Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Multicolor is an extraordinary and colourful cactus that delights with its intense colour gradients. The spherical shoots display fascinating combinations of green, yellow, orange, pink, red or cream, giving each plant a unique appearance. The species Gymnocalycium mihanovichii originally comes from South America, particularly Paraguay and Argentina, where it grows in dry, sunny regions. The Multicolor variety is especially popular with collectors and adds exotic accents to living spaces or plant collections with its vivid colours.

Care as a houseplant:

• Light: Very bright spot with plenty of indirect light; tolerates some direct sun well, but accustom it gradually to strong midday sun.

• Temperature: Ideally 18–30 °C; temperatures below 10–12 °C should be avoided.

• Humidity: Low; dry room air is ideal.

• Substrate: Free-draining cactus substrate with mineral components such as pumice, sand or perlite.

• Watering: Water sparingly; let the substrate dry out completely between waterings. Be sure to avoid waterlogging.

• Feeding: During the growing season, about once a month with a low dose of cactus fertiliser.

• Special features: The intensely coloured variegation makes every plant a one-of-a-kind specimen and a popular collector's item.

Overwintering tips:

In winter, water very sparingly and place the plant in as bright and slightly cooler a spot as possible. Temperatures should ideally be between 10 and 15 °C. The Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Multicolor is an easy-care, decorative cactus that adds special accents with its vivid colours.

Ich habe zuerst

Ich habe zuerst zwei Kakteen bestellt, da ich mir nicht sicher war, ob ich wirklich gesunde und schöne Pflanzen erhalten würde. Bestellt habe ich ein Gymnocalycium Variegata und ein Gymnocalycium Multicolor. Ich war wirklich sehr positiv überrascht! Die Kakteen waren wunderschön, und ich war so zufrieden, dass ich gleich noch zwei weitere bestellt habe. Dazu kamen noch 5 Liter Kakteenerde und Vulkastrat. Die Lieferung ins Zürcher Oberland hat mich ebenfalls überzeugt. Ich bin wirklich sehr, sehr zufrieden und glaube, dass ich jetzt ein Stammkunde geworden bin! 🌵😊 Vielen Dank für die schönen und gesunden Pflanzen. Ich werde bestimmt wieder bestellen!
