Product information "Hoya Carnosa Compacta"

History of the Hoya Carnosa Compacta

Hoya Carnosa Compacta, also known as the 'wax plant' or 'Krinkle Kurl', is a special variety of Hoya carnosa. Its thick, wavy and twisted leaves give it an extraordinary, sculptural appearance. Hoya carnosa originally comes from Southeast Asia, where it grows as an epiphytic climbing plant on trees. The Compacta form is particularly popular for its unique leaf structure and its decorative, star-shaped flowers.

Care as a houseplant:

• Light: Bright spot with plenty of indirect light; some direct sun is well tolerated.

• Temperature: Ideally 18–27 °C; avoid temperatures below 12–15 °C.

• Humidity: Moderate to slightly increased; occasional misting supports growth.

• Substrate: Loose, free-draining substrate, e.g. orchid compost mixed with perlite.

• Watering: Water moderately; let the substrate dry out well between waterings. Avoid waterlogging.

• Feeding: During the growing season, every 2–4 weeks with a liquid fertiliser.

• Special features: The twisted leaves store water, making the plant relatively drought-tolerant. It is ideal for hanging baskets.

Overwintering tips:

In winter, water less and place in a bright spot. Temperatures should not fall below 12 °C. Hoya Carnosa Compacta is an easy-care and extraordinary houseplant that is a real eye-catcher with its twisted leaves and decorative flowers.

Endlich gefunden
