History of Sansevieria Star Canary

The Sansevieria Star Canary is an eye-catching snake plant cultivar with compact, rosette-shaped growth and bright yellow-green leaf markings. Sansevierias originally come from the dry regions of Africa and Asia, where they are known as hardy survivors. The variety Star Canary is particularly valued as a decorative houseplant, as it copes well even in low light and is virtually indestructible.

Care as a houseplant:

  • Light: Bright to partially shaded spot; also tolerates low light.

  • Temperature: Ideally 18–28 °C, not below 12 °C.

  • Humidity: Undemanding; normal indoor air is sufficient.

  • Substrate: Free-draining cactus soil or a mix of potting soil and sand.

  • Watering: Water very sparingly, only once the substrate is completely dry. Be sure to avoid waterlogging.

  • Feeding: Feed lightly only every 4–6 weeks during the growing season.

  • Special features: One of the easiest houseplants to care for, ideal for beginners and offices.
